Ahn, Chief Information Officer As Chief Information Officer, Mr. Ahn is solely responsible for the accurate comprehensive analysis and delivery of replies to all the clients of FinanceOncall. com. Mr. Ahn typically originates all answers and analyses but maintains an extensive network of resources and professionals from leading institutions including JP Morgan, H&R Block Inc., and the Wharton School. Mr. Ahn is also a partner of corporate finance consultancy the Abacus Group and is responsible for project and transaction analysis in M&A, corporate finance, and strategy. Since joining in 2003 as west coast partner, he has advised clients from start-ups to public companies on over $400 million of projects and transactions Mr. Ahn is concurrently an adjunct professor at the University of GA and a lecturer for the MBA programs at the University of TX - Dallas and Pepperdine University. He is known for effective, highly analytical, implementation-oriented instruction. Mr. Ahn's course topics have included corporate finance, financial management, international finance, investment management, capital investment, entrepreneurial finance, valuation, mergers & acquisitions, takeovers & restructuring, financial modeling, and international accounting. Mr. Ahn is also a certified on-line instructor for several universities including Troy University and Webster-Marymount University. He is a frequent guest speaker and panelist and has conducted training for SEC securities licensees as well as four Global FORTUNE 500 firms. Mr. Ahn also serves as an editorial reviewer for financial publisher Mcgraw-Hill, is a frequent book reviewer for Graziadio Business Report magazine, and is a member of the London Financial Times Executive Panel. Prior to joining Abacus, Mr. Ahn was a Vice President for H&R Block's newly acquired corporate subsidiary specializing in small business valuations, mergers & acquisitions, and capital raising. Mr. Ahn advised over 100 small business owners and corporate clients on transactions and valuations including several of the firm’s most complex and demanding ones. His industry coverage grew to include innumerable industry sub-sectors in manufacturing, services, technology, natural resources, healthcare, and media. Prior to H&R Block, Mr. Ahn was a senior investment banker for J.P. Morgan in New York and an investment banking associate for Schroders of London. He worked on over $20 billion of successful transactions for businesses ranging from large private entities to Fortune 100 firms. His transactions included merger, acquisition, divestiture, joint venture, LBO, spin-off, carve-out, hostile takeover, takeover defense, vulture finance, and asset swap. His securities underwriting experience included IPOs, seasoned equity, tracking stock, credit grade bonds, high yield bonds, medium term notes, derivative securities, rights, contingent value rights, and mezzanine debt. In the corporate arena, Mr. Ahn worked for International Paper, the world’s largest forest products company. He was a senior corporate finance analyst and appointed by the Corporate Treasurer as the expatriate senior treasury analyst for IP’s pioneering acquisition in Eastern Europe. While based in Poland and Belgium, he developed cash management procedures and training programs to assist in the completion of the project financing and successful integration of the acquisition. Prior to his expatriate appointment, Mr. Ahn was promoted several times within corporate treasury based on contributions to internal audit, cash management, corporate finance, budgeting & planning, financial analysis, export finance, credit, and process improvement. After leaving International Paper, Mr. Ahn authored Modern Global Cash Management, a 402 page book later published in its second edition in 1996. Mr. Ahn earned his MBA with a triple concentration – Finance, Investment Management, and Multinational Management – from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), where he was also Managing Editor of The Wharton Journal. He earned his BA with high honors, double-majoring in International Business and Finance at Emory University with joint studies at London Guildhall University and Yonsei University Seoul. He is a national honor society inductee of Beta Gamma Sigma, Alpha Epsilon Upsilon, and Phi Sigma Iota, a member of the American Finance Association, and a board member of several non-profits. |
